Installation Guide
Last updated: May 2026
Thank you for choosing Xplywi. This Installation Guide provides general installation information for Xplywi vehicle-specific dash cams and related accessories sold to UK customers.
Xplywi currently sells and ships products to the United Kingdom only. Because many UK vehicles are right-hand drive and may have different mirror housings, windscreen sensor covers, trim levels, and wiring layouts, please check compatibility carefully before installation.
The exact installation steps may vary depending on your vehicle model, product version, selected configuration, camera setup, cable type, and included accessories. Please read this guide carefully before installation.
Important Installation Notice:
Please check product compatibility, included accessories, cable type, and product condition before installation. If the product does not fit your vehicle, appears damaged, has missing parts, or you are unsure about wiring, please stop installation and contact us first.

- The product has no visible damage before installation.
- The rear camera, if included, is suitable for your intended installation position.
If you find missing parts, visible damage, incorrect configuration, or compatibility concerns, please stop and contact us before installing the product.
For customer-reason returns or exchanges, the product must be unused, uninstalled, unmodified, complete, and in a returnable condition. Installed, used, modified, damaged, incorrectly installed, or incomplete products are not eligible for customer-reason returns.
2. Important Safety Notice
Vehicle electronics, wiring, sensors, airbags, and interior trim may be sensitive. Please install the product carefully and avoid damaging your vehicle.
Before installation, please note:
- Turn off the vehicle before connecting or disconnecting cables.
- Do not force any part into position.
- Do not cut, splice, modify, or damage original vehicle wiring.
- Do not block the driver’s view.
- Do not install the product in a position that affects airbags, sensors, or safety systems.
- Keep cables away from pedals, steering parts, airbags, seat belts, and moving components.
- Use proper tools when removing interior trim or covers.
- Ask a professional installer for help if you are not familiar with vehicle electronics, wiring, or interior trim removal.
Xplywi is not responsible for product damage, vehicle damage, installation failure, electrical issues, trim damage, or other losses caused by improper installation, incorrect wiring, forced installation, cable modification, unauthorised repair, third-party accessories, or installation by an unqualified person.
3. Compatibility Check Before Installation
Xplywi dash cams and related accessories are vehicle-specific products. Compatibility may depend on vehicle brand, model, year, trim, rearview mirror housing, windscreen sensor cover, right-hand drive layout, and wiring structure.
Before installation, please check:
- Vehicle brand
- Vehicle model
- Vehicle model year
- Vehicle trim or version, if known
- Right-hand drive layout
- Original rearview mirror area
- Windscreen sensor cover shape
- Installation position
- Product title and compatibility table
- Product images and installation images
- Included accessories and selected configuration
If your original mirror housing, windscreen sensor cover, or installation position looks different from the product images, please stop installation and contact us first.
To help us check compatibility, please provide clear photos of the front of your rearview mirror area, both sides of the mirror housing, and the windscreen sensor cover area.
4. Tools You May Need
Depending on your vehicle and product configuration, you may need basic tools for installation.
Common tools may include:
- Plastic trim removal tool
- Clean microfiber cloth
- Cable clips or cable ties
- Small screwdriver, if required
- Flashlight
- Memory card reader, if needed
- Professional installation tools, if wiring work is required
Please avoid using metal tools directly on delicate vehicle trim, as they may scratch or damage the interior.
5. Check Included Components
Included components may vary depending on the product model, SKU, package version, and selected configuration.
Your package may include some of the following items:
- Dash cam main unit
- Front camera module
- Rear camera, if you selected a front and rear camera version
- Power cable
- Rear camera cable, if applicable
- Memory card, if included in your selected option
- Mounting accessories
- Installation tools, if included
- User guide or installation reference information
Please check your order details and product page to confirm the exact included components. If any important component is missing, please contact us before installation.
Do not assume that every product configuration includes a rear camera, memory card, OBD power cable, hardwire cable, or parking monitoring accessory unless the selected product option clearly states that it is included.
6. Pre-Installation Function Test
Before final installation, we recommend performing a basic function test where possible.
Please check:
- The dash cam powers on normally.
- The memory card is detected, if required.
- The front camera records properly.
- The rear camera works properly, if included.
- The Viidure app connection works properly, if supported.
- The product has no visible damage or abnormal behaviour.
Do not complete final cable routing, mounting, or trim reassembly until the basic functions have been checked. If the product does not power on, does not fit, or appears abnormal, please stop installation and contact us.
7. General Front Dash Cam Installation Steps
The following steps are general instructions. The actual steps may vary depending on your vehicle and product model.
- Park your vehicle in a safe and well-lit area.
- Turn off the vehicle before installation.
- Clean the windscreen and installation area.
- Check the original rearview mirror area and sensor cover.
- Remove the original cover carefully if required.
- Align the Xplywi dash cam or camera housing with the original installation position.
- Install the product gently and make sure it fits securely.
- Connect the power cable according to the product design.
- Route the cable neatly along the original trim or windscreen edge.
- Make sure the cable does not block airbags, pedals, steering parts, seat belts, sensors, or driver visibility.
- Start the vehicle and check whether the dash cam powers on properly.
- Adjust the camera angle if needed.
- Check the recording function and Viidure app connection if supported.
Do not force the product into place. If the product does not fit correctly, stop installation and contact us for compatibility support.
8. Rear Camera Installation Steps
If you purchased a front and rear dual camera version, your product may include a rear camera and rear camera cable.
General rear camera installation steps:
- Confirm the rear camera installation position before wiring.
- Route the rear camera cable from the front dash cam to the rear area of the vehicle.
- Hide the cable carefully along the roof lining, door seal, or interior trim where suitable.
- Keep the cable away from airbags, seat belts, moving parts, and sharp edges.
- Connect the rear camera cable to the dash cam main unit.
- Install the rear camera inside the vehicle, usually near the rear windscreen area, if suitable for your product model.
- Adjust the rear camera angle for a clear rear or interior view.
- Start the vehicle and check front and rear recording.
Unless clearly stated on the product page, the rear camera is designed for interior installation, such as inside the rear windscreen area. It is not waterproof and should not be installed outside the vehicle or near the number plate area.
For rear cameras that support angle adjustment, you may adjust the camera direction according to your installation needs. Some rear cameras can be installed inside the vehicle to record the rear view or interior view, depending on product design and installation position.
9. Power Cable Installation Notice
The power cable type may vary depending on the product model and selected package.
Common power connection options may include:
- Standard plug-in power cable or rain sensor power cable, depending on product design
- Fuse box hardwire cable, if purchased separately or included in the selected package
- OBD power cable, if purchased separately or included in the selected package
- Other compatible power accessories depending on product design
Please check your product page and order details to confirm which power cable is included with your product.
Do not assume that an OBD power cable, hardwire kit, or parking monitoring cable is included unless it is clearly stated in the selected product option or product description.
Incorrect power connection may cause product failure or vehicle electrical issues. If you are not familiar with vehicle power wiring, please ask a professional installer for help.
10. Parking Monitoring Notice
Some dash cam functions, such as parking monitoring or continuous parking recording, may require an additional compatible power cable, hardwire kit, OBD power cable, or other optional power accessory.
Parking monitoring may require an additional compatible power cable and may not be included with every product configuration. An OBD power cable, hardwire kit, or parking monitoring cable is not included as a standard component unless clearly stated on the product page or selected product option.
If your selected product uses a standard plug-in power cable or rain sensor power cable, the dash cam may turn off when the vehicle is turned off and may not record after the vehicle is parked.
Before using parking monitoring, please confirm:
- Whether your product supports parking monitoring
- Whether the required power cable is included in your selected package
- Whether an optional cable must be purchased separately
- Whether the installation method is suitable for your vehicle
- Whether professional installation is required
Xplywi is not responsible for function limitations caused by missing optional accessories that were not included in the purchased product package.
11. Memory Card Installation and Formatting
Some dash cam products may include a memory card, while others may not. Please check your selected product option and order details.
Before using the dash cam, please insert a compatible memory card if required.
General memory card tips:
- Use a high-quality memory card suitable for dash cam recording.
- Make sure the memory card capacity is supported by your product.
- Format the memory card before first use if required.
- Format the memory card regularly to maintain stable recording performance.
- Do not remove the memory card while the dash cam is recording.
- Replace the memory card if recording errors continue after formatting.
Recording issues may be caused by incompatible memory cards, low-speed cards, damaged cards, full storage, formatting errors, locked emergency files, or unstable power supply.
12. Viidure App Connection and WiFi Setup
Some Xplywi dash cam products support local WiFi connection through the Viidure app.
App control means that your phone connects directly to the dash cam’s WiFi for local operation, such as viewing videos, downloading recordings, changing settings, or checking files.
App control does not mean remote viewing from another location. The dash cam does not support remote operation from home or from a different place unless clearly stated on the product page.
General app connection steps:
- Start the vehicle or power on the dash cam.
- Make sure the dash cam is turned on.
- Enable WiFi on the dash cam if required.
- Open your phone WiFi settings.
- Find the dash cam WiFi network.
- Connect your phone to the dash cam WiFi.
- Open the Viidure app.
- Follow the app instructions to preview, download, or adjust settings.
If your phone cannot connect, please check whether the dash cam is powered on, whether the correct WiFi network is selected, whether app permissions are enabled, and whether your phone system supports the app.
Please note that some in-car WiFi systems, including CarPlay-related WiFi connections, may conflict with the dash cam WiFi connection. A phone usually connects to one WiFi network at a time, so you may need to disconnect from other in-car WiFi networks before connecting to the dash cam.
App features may vary depending on product model, phone model, operating system, app version, WiFi environment, and device compatibility.
13. Camera Angle Adjustment
After installation, please check the camera view before driving.
Please make sure:
- The front camera has a clear forward view.
- The camera is not blocked by the mirror, cover, windscreen tint, or stickers.
- The image is not tilted too far upward or downward.
- The rear camera, if included, has a clear rear or interior view.
- The camera does not block the driver’s view.
After adjusting the angle, record a short test video and review the footage to confirm that the view is suitable.
14. Testing After Installation
After installation, please test the product before regular use.
Please check:
- The dash cam powers on normally.
- The screen or indicator light works, if applicable.
- The front camera records properly.
- The rear camera records properly, if included.
- The memory card is detected.
- The Viidure app connects properly, if supported.
- The time and date settings are correct.
- The video files can be saved and played.
- The cable routing is safe and neat.
If any function does not work correctly, please contact us with photos or videos before continuing installation adjustments.
